PURPOSE:
A $24,620.00 district 6 ARP appropriation for reimbursement of expense that was not budgeted to address COVID 19: capital expenditures that responds to the public health and negative economic impacts of the pandemic (Mech South installed ionization system on 11/19/20.
NEED/IMPACT:
The International Community School (ICS) is a public charter school in DeKalb County, Georgia serving students in grades K-5. The school serves more than 400 students annually representing more than 30 nationalities and speaking 25 languages.
During the pandemic many students, staff, and ICS volunteers were impacted by COVID related illness and COVID related death. To complicate possible COVID safety protocols, the Georgia House passed the “Unmask Georgia Students Act” bill that would prevent schools from enforcing mask mandates.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The district 6 ARP funding will continue to help protect students, families, administration, staff, and the community, and will be used for reimbursing the purchase and installation of the Bipolar ionization that will be used in the HVAC system to help remove viruses, including SARS-2-CoV, the virus that causes COVID-19, from the air and to maximize facilitating surface disinfection of surfaces within the treated area.

To approve the appropriation and authorize the chief executive officer to execute all necessary documents.
