PURPOSE:

Pursuant to Section 13.5-3 of the DeKalb County Code, where, for the appointment of members to the DeKalb County Historic Preservation Commission the “chief executive officer or designee shall nominate individuals for confirmation by the board of commissioners as provided in Section 13A,” CEO Thurmond nominates Ms. Haley Harben for appointment to the DeKalb County Historic Preservation Commission in Seat 6 of Group B. This is for the unexpired three (3) year term which will expire June 30, 2027. Ms. Harben will replace Matthew Stoddard on the Commission.

 

NEED/IMPACT:

The purpose and intent of the DeKalb County Historic Preservation Commission is to establish a uniform procedure for use in providing for the protection, enhancement, perpetuation, and use of places, districts, sites, buildings, structures, objects, landscape features and works of art having special historical, cultural, or aesthetic interest, or value. Ms. Harben is an architectural historian. Her appointment to the commission will be an asset to the county and those who rely on the services provided through the DeKalb County Historic Preservation Commission.

 

FISCAL IMPACT:

No cost to the County.

Recommended Action

To confirm the appointment of Ms. Haley Harben to the Historic Preservation Commission in Seat 6 of Group B, with the term being effective upon confirmation to fill the unexpired term that expires on June 30, 2027.
