PURPOSE:

Pursuant to 13A of the Organizational Act where “The chief executive shall nominate a person by sending a written notice to the commission,” CEO Michael Thurmond is nominating Ms. Alecea Quintyne for reappointment in position 5 - Addictive Diseases onto the DeKalb Community Service Board. This is a three (3) year term which began July 1, 2017 and expires on June 30, 2020.

 

NEED/IMPACT:

The DeKalb Community Service Board provides mental health, developmental disability, and addictive diseases services at its facilities in DeKalb County. As stipulated in the DeKalb Community Service Board bylaws, the county governing authority shall appoint at least one of its appointments to be “a consumer of disability services, child psychiatrist, family member of a consumer, advocate for disability services, or a local leader or business person with an interest in mental health, developmental disabilities, and addictive diseases.” Ms. Quintyne has been properly vetted by the DeKalb Community Service Board and the Administration.  Ms. Quintyne has over 20 years of experience in healthcare and is passionate about advocating for mental health initiatives. Ms. Quintyne has been an asset to the county and those who rely on the services provided through the DeKalb Community Services Board.
