PURPOSE:

To approve to allow 23 Dalmingos to use a photo as a backdrop on the official website home page taken from the DeKalb County Fire Station 23 Facebook, that shows "DeKalb County Fire Rescue" on the door of Engine 23. Per O.C.G.A. ? 25-13-2, no person or organization should be allowed to use any municipal, county, or volunteer fire department's name or any term used to identify the department or its members without the expressed permission of the local governing body.

NEED/IMPACT:

In 1986, when Station 23 was opened in Clarkston the firefighters assigned to this station put pink plastic flamingos in front of the station in an effort to bring awareness to a retention pond in front of the station. After a few weeks they painted them white with black spots and called them "Dalmingos" and became a community landmark.

After 25 years retired, Mr. Moore is fulfilling a dream to launch trademarked 3 Dalmingos, LLC., with a mission to bring awareness to Firefighter Mental Health and to Burn Survivors. He has since trademarked the word "Dalmingo" and is in the process of launching the official website 23dalmingos.com.

For 29 years, Dan Moore served the citizens of DeKalb County as a Firefighter housed at Station 23 in Clarkston. After 25 years of retirement, he is opening the 23 Dalmingos, LLC.
