PURPOSE:

To consider accepting and appropriating $125,000 from Ashton Atlanta Residential LLC into a new capital account for South Fork Peachtree Creek Trail Access Improvements.

 

NEED/IMPACT:

Condition 9 of Z-16-20895 for the Dumont Place development (formerly known as Provence Park) calls for the developer to construct 10 foot wide sidewalk along North Druid Hills Road to Spring Creek Road subject to approval by the DeKalb County Transportation Division. This area is likely to be affected by a future project to replace the nearby North Druid Hills Road bridge over CSX railroad, so any sidewalk constructed at this time would likely need to be removed and replaced under the future project.  In lieu of making the sidewalk improvements, the developer has agreed to make a one-time payment to DeKalb County of $125,000.  These funds will allow the county to make other improvements that will improve access to the existing trailhead for South Fork Peachtree Creek Trail at Spring Creek Road.

 

FISCAL IMPACT:

The county will be accepting $125,000.
