PURPOSE:

Pursuant to 13A of the Organizational Act where “The chief executive shall nominate a person by sending a written notice to the commission” for confirmation by the board of commissioners for approval, CEO Michael Thurmond nominates Dr. Karen Leeper Bennett for reappointment to the Fulton-DeKalb Hospital Authority (Grady), for DeKalb Post 2. This is a four (4) year term, for the term that began on January 1, 2024, and will expire on December 31, 2027.

 

NEED/IMPACT:

The Fulton-DeKalb Hospital Authority is committed to working to meet the healthcare needs of Fulton and DeKalb County residents. Dr. Bennett has resided in DeKalb County since 2012 and serves in the Georgia General Assembly as the State Representative for District 94. Dr. Bennett is a licensed physical therapist and the President and CEO of Metro Therapy Providers, Inc. Her vast professional experience and community advocacy are a continued benefit to the Fulton-DeKalb Hospital Authority. Dr. Bennett has continued to serve in her position as an Authority Trustee since her term ended on December 31, 2023.

Recommended Action

To confirm the reappointment of Dr. Bennett to the Fulton-DeKalb Hospital Authority in DeKalb Post 2, with a term being effective upon confirmation and expiring on December 31, 2027.
