PURPOSE:
To allocate an amount, not to exceed, 3,500.00 to the Clarkston Community Center's Art & Culture Program, specifically supporting the Artist Collective Initiative.
NEED/IMPACT:
The Clarkston Community Center, founded in 1994, is a vibrant hub of diversity, collaboration, and growth. They are located and target to serve our most culturally rich community, and dedicated to offering valuable services, empowering educational opportunities, and engaging events that support individuals and families.
This initiative is part of their broader effort to transform the Clarkston Community Center into a central hub for arts, culture, and heritage. The funding will help provide resources for local artists, host cultural events, and foster community connections through creative expression.
The Artist's Collective Initiative aims to serve approximately 200 individuals annually, including local artists, community members, and participants in workshops and events. Services provided include:
* Hosting art exhibitions and cultural festivals to showcase diverse artistic expressions
* Offering educational workshops in various creative disciplines
* Supporting public art projects, such as murals and sculptures, that reflect the community's pride and identity
* Conducting art therapy sessions to promote mental and emotional well-being, particularly for immigrants and refugees
