PURPOSE:
To record the appointment of Becky Evans as the Commission District 2 Representative to the DeKalb County Environmental Justice and Sustainability Resident Review Group
NEED/IMPACT:
DeKalb County’s Environmental Justice and Sustainability Resident Review Group will ensure communities most affected by environmental impacts-especially amid growing concerns about data centers, pollution, and energy burden-have a direct voice in the decisions that shape their health and quality of life. The advisory group creates a formal structure for residents and professionals to inform County policy on sustainability, green jobs, energy initiatives, and environmental justice, while it strengthens accountability by monitoring progress on efforts like the 100% Clean Energy and Transportation Transition Plan. Its required annual report will also help identify and address gaps in siting and land use policies, highlight risks to human health, and recommend procedures that prioritize environmental equity and protect high-risk areas.
