PURPOSE:
Pursuant to Section 13A of the DeKalb County Organizational Act and O.C.G.A. § 31-3-2 related to county boards of health, CEO Cochran-Johnson nominates Dr. Jewel Crawford, MD for appointment to Post 6 of the DeKalb County Board of Health. The individual in Post 6 must be a resident of DeKalb County and be a consumer of health services within the County who will represent the County’s needy, underprivileged, or elderly community.
Dr. Crawford will replace Ms. Delphyne Lomax whose term expired December 31, 2021. Ms. Lomax will continue to serve in Post 6 until Dr. Crawford is appointed and qualified. Dr. Crawford will complete the unexpired six (6) year term that began on January 1, 2022 and expires on December 31, 2027.
NEED/IMPACT:
The DeKalb County Board of Health exercises responsibility for health matters within DeKalb County, including taking steps to prevent and suppress disease and conditions deleterious to the health of citizens; adopting and enforcing rules and regulations appropriate to improving health within the County; and contracting and establishing fees for a multifaceted mission within DeKalb County.
