PURPOSE:
To authorize the execution of an Intergovernmental Agreement (IGA) between DeKalb County and the City of Tucker to grant an easement to facilitate the development of a pedestrian trail, provide for the construction of a public parking lot dedicated to public use with costs reimbursed to the County, and assign ongoing maintenance responsibilities in perpetuity to the City of Tucker.

NEED/IMPACT:
Approval of the proposed IGA supports coordinated intergovernmental planning and investment by granting the easement necessary for construction and maintenance of the City of Tucker's pedestrian trail, providing for reimbursement to the County for public parking improvements constructed on County property for public use, and assigning long-term maintenance responsibilities for the parking facility to the City of Tucker.

FISCAL IMPACT:
There is no net fiscal impact to the County. Costs associated with the construction of the public parking improvements, estimated to be approximately $520,000, subject to final design and procurement, will be reimbursed to the County in accordance with the terms of the Intergovernmental Agreement. Ongoing maintenance and operational responsibilities for the parking facility and trail will be covered by the City of Tucker.
