PURPOSE:
To Appropriate $4,000 from the 2025 District 6 Reserve for Appropriation to the Atlanta Regional Commission (ARC) as the required "local contribution" for community development planning assistance in the Community Development Assistance Program (CDAP) to support the selected project "South River in the City: Establishing the Upper South River Water Trail" submitted by American Rivers. These funds will be used for engagement with a Project Advisory Group to enhance overall program development. The "South River in the City: Establishing the Upper South River Water Trail" Scope of Services is attached.

NEED/IMPACT:
This project is focused on expanding passive recreational use of the South River, upstream of Panola Shoals, into the most urban areas of DeKalb County and City of Atlanta with the goal of improving instream water quality. In 2024, the Board of Commissioners passed a resolution "[Committing] to the Transformation of the South River Forest by Adopting the Recommendations of the "Explore South River Forest" Report..."
