PURPOSE:

To allocate $5,000 from the District 2 Reserve for Appropriation to PAWS Atlanta to Support Their Pet Food Bank for Families in Need

NEED/IMPACT:

This allocation is needed to support PAWS Atlanta’s Pet Food Bank program, which provides free pet food and essential supplies to DeKalb County families experiencing financial hardship. A $5,000 investment from District 2 will allow PAWS Atlanta to purchase bulk dog and cat food and expand distribution capacity, helping residents care for their pets during periods of economic stress. By ensuring consistent access to pet food, the program prevents unnecessary pet surrender, reduces strain on local shelter systems, and supports the well-being of seniors, single-income households, and families in crisis while keeping pets safely in their homes.

FISCAL IMPACT:

An amount not to exceed $5,000 from District 2 Reserve for Appropriation (00202.579002.100.0000.0000).

RECOMMENDATION:
