PURPOSE:
To allocate $30,000 of District 2 Reserve for Appropriation to Jane Goodall Institute to support Roots & Shoots program at Fernbank Museum
NEED/IMPACT:
This allocation will support the Jane Goodall Institute’s Roots & Shoots program at Fernbank Museum, which provides DeKalb County middle school students with hands-on environmental education, leadership development, and community service opportunities. Through a year-long curriculum, participants learn to identify local challenges, develop service projects, and become active changemakers in their communities while gaining valuable skills in civic engagement, teamwork, and problem-solving. Funding will help sustain program operations, educational activities, and student support, ensuring that DeKalb youth continue to have access to high-quality enrichment opportunities that foster academic growth, environmental stewardship, and long-term community involvement.
