PURPOSE:
On July 31, 2021, the federal moratorium on evictions ended. In August of 2021, an agenda item was proposed, adopted and approved to allocate American Rescue Plan funding to various organizations including the DeKalb County NAACP to assist with eviction forbearance, utility and water billing assistance, and other administrative costs. This agenda item amends that allocation to provide the DeKalb County NAACP with $100,000.00 in funding instead of $200,000.00 originally allocated in August of 2021.
NEED/IMPACT:
Many families have lost their primary source of income because of the COVID - 19 pandemic and have fallen significantly behind in mortgage and other utility payments. As a result, many families are experiencing the reality of possible evictions and/or disconnection of utilities. This allocation will keep many families from being displaced and provide needed assistance DeKalb County’s citizens.

• Amend the $200,000 August 2021 Allocation to $100,000 to DeKalb County NAACP - $50,000 of the allocation must be used for the purposes of Eviction Forbearance and the remaining $50,000 can be used for Utility and Water Billing Assistance, and other administrative costs.

To approve the resolution and authorize the chief executive officer to execute all necessary documents.
