STAFF ANALYSIS: The applicant requests a SLUP (Special Land Use Permit) to operate a child daycare facility for up to six (6) children within an existing single-family residence from 8 AM - 6 PM. The proposal appears consistent with SLUP criteria in Section 7.4.6 (SLUP Criteria) and Supplemental Regulations in Section 4.2.19 (Child Day care facility). Staff have verified one (1) child day care facility within the 1,000-foot distance requirement (4.2.19 D). However, the facility is not licensed in DeKalb County. It appears that the proposed use is compatible with SUB (Suburban) land use goals and R-100 (Residential Medium Lot- 100) standards. SUB identifies civic institutions and services to serve the surrounding community as an encouraged development.
