PURPOSE:

To Allocate an Amount Not to Exceed $5,000.00 from the District 3 Reserved for Appropriation Fund to Single Parent Alliance & Resource Center (SPARC) to support the Snapfinger Elementary - Two Generation Program: Financial Achievement Club (FAC) for parents.

NEED/IMPACT:

SPARC has a Book Buddies program at Snapfinger Elementary, a literacy enrichment program tailored for K-5 students.  The FAC for parents will strengthen the impact of Book Buddies and expand into a two-generation model by offering the Financial Achievement Club (FAC) to parents at Snapfinger Elementary.

FAC is a peer-based financial empowerment program that will combine group learning, individual coaching, and financial incentives to help families increase their stability. Parents will participate in Monthly Group Workshops and One-on-One Coaching as their students learn the importance of budgeting, debt management and savings strategies. This will also help foster dialogue between parents and children on modeling healthy financial behavior.

FISCAL IMPACT:

$5,000 from the District 3 Reserved for Appropriation Fund and appropriated to SPARC.

RECOMMENDATION:
