PURPOSE:
Pursuant to 13A of the Organizational Act where “The Chief executive shall nominate a person by sending a written notice to the commission,” CEO Thurmond is nominating Ms. Valerie Boyd for appointment onto the DeKalb County Public Library Board (DCPL). This is three (3) year term which would begin on the date of confirmation and expire on December 31, 2020.
NEED/IMPACT:
The DeKalb County Public Library Board of Trustees and CEO Thurmond have vetted Ms. Boyd and feels her wide-ranging academic and professional background coupled with her understanding of the role the public library plays in the community makes her an excellent candidate to serve on the Library Board. She is a longtime resident of DeKalb County and is in the process of moving to Pine Lake.
