PURPOSE:
Pursuant to 13A of the Organizational Act where “The chief executive shall nominate a person by sending a written notice to the commission,” CEO Thurmond is nominating Mr. Robert Burroughs for reappointment onto the DeKalb County Board of Assessors. This is a six (6) year term which would begin January 1, 2018 and expire December 31, 2023.
NEED/IMPACT:
Mr. Burroughs has served the DeKalb County Board of Assessors admirably since January, 2006 and as stipulated in O.C.G.A. 48-5-292 (a) can “be reappointed to succeed himself as a member of the board” which he desires. As a practicing attorney in real estate and real estate based financing at Robert A. Burroughs, P.C., he is well-qualified to assist the board with the responsibility of establishing the fair market value of property for ad valorem taxation purposes.
