PURPOSE:

NEED/IMPACT:

In the County’s Adopted 2017 Budget, $300,000 was approved for State Certified Victim Assistance non-profits. In August 2017, the BOC approved $150,000 of these funds for a contract with the Women’s Resource Center (dba, Women Moving On, Inc.) to provide crisis intervention services to women and their children. The balance of $150,000 will be allocated to other non-profits who provide similar services.

The Human Services Department has identified ten (10) non-profit agencies that have State Certification to provide services and support to victims of domestic violence. The grant period for all grants will be for one year from the date of BOC approval. The transfer of the funds from the Victim Assistance Fund to the Human Services Grant Fund will help avoid the delay of payments to these critical non-profit agencies.

FISCAL IMPACT:

There is no fiscal impact, as this action only transfers already appropriated funds.
