PURPOSE:

On September 12, 2017, CEO Thurmond declared a State of Emergency in the County due to the extensive damage caused by Tropical Storm Irma. This allowed the County to move forward quickly with tree and debris removal enabling the quick clearing of over 81 roadways and the restoration of essential County services to its citizens.  The opening of roads also allowed Georgia Power access to all areas of the County requiring repair of downed power lines. The current awarded contractor was selected to provide these emergency services. These costs are being accumulated to seek reimbursement under Federal disaster relief managed by DeKalb Emergency Management Agency (DEMA).
