Georgia Power Relocations for Panola Road at Marbut Road Traffic Signal Improvements

PURPOSE:
To consider authorizing a payment to Georgia Power of up to $50,000 for relocation of overhead power lines for construction of improvements to the Panola Road at Marbut Road traffic signal; and
To consider authorizing the Chief Executive Officer to execute all necessary documents pertaining to this project.
NEED/IMPACT:
The existing traffic signal at Panola Road at Marbut Road is being upgraded to include service to a private school driveway and to provide pedestrian signals for all quadrants of the intersection. Existing Georgia Power overhead power lines will need to be relocated to allow for the installation of the additional signal heads and to upgrade the signal to have proper clearances from the roadway and from Georgia Power facilities.
FISCAL IMPACT:
It is estimated that Georgia Power relocations will cost up to $50,000. It is estimated that the actual upgrades to the signal will cost another $50,000. Existing HOST funding will be used to cover the cost.
