PURPOSE:
To consider accepting grant award in the amount of $4,500 from the Criminal Justice Coordinating Council (CJCC) in order to provide additional mental health treatment services to youth enrolled in the Journey Mental Health Court Program.

To consider authorizing the Chief Executive Officer and/or his designee to execute the grant agreement and all necessary related documents.

NEED/IMPACT:
The Criminal Justice Coordinating Council awarded the DeKalb Juvenile Court supplemental funding for the continuation of mental health treatment services to youth enrolled in the court's Journey Court Program. The purpose of this program is to serve at-risk youth within DeKalb County who have become involved in the court and have been diagnosed with an Axis I mental health disorder. Journey serves female juvenile offenders between the ages of 14 and 17. The program includes intensive court and community supervision; individual and family treatment; tutoring; and aftercare services.

Supplemental funds are needed due to original grant funds being expended at a rapid rate. Funds will cover the costs of treatment for youth without insurance. The award requires a 10% cash match of $500, which the court will provide using the operational budget. The grant period is from January 1, 2018 through June 30, 2018. The amount awarded is $4,500.

FISCAL IMPACT:
The grant award will provide additional funds to the Juvenile Court's overall grants budget.
