PURPOSE:
Pursuant to 13A of the Organizational Act where “The chief executive shall nominate a person by sending a written notice to the commission,” CEO Thurmond is nominating Mr. Herbert McCoy for appointment onto the DeKalb County Public Library Board of Trustees. The term would begin upon board approval and expire on December 31, 2021.
NEED/IMPACT:
Mr. McCoy is a resident of Ellenwood and currently serves as Vice President at Fidelity National Bank in Decatur. Mr. McCoy is a longtime patron and supporter of DeKalb County Public Library, having served a term on the DeKalb Library Foundation Board, where he took an active role on the search committee tasked with hiring a new Executive Director of the Foundation in 2014. Mr. McCoy’s financial and business experience will serve to fulfill areas of expertise currently in need on the Board.
