PURPOSE:

To consider accepting up to $50,000.00 for fiscal year 2018 to host the NAPWDA Georgia Certification/Workshop; and appropriate these funds into a dedicated project account; and to authorize the Chief Executive Officer to execute all necessary documents.

NEED/IMPACT:

NAPWDA has been in existence since 1977 and offers all agencies who maintain active membership certification of master trainers, and K9 teams in the discipline to which they work. Dekalb County K9 unit has been an active member of this organization since 2006. NAPWDA asked the department if they would host the 2018 Georgia Workshop currently anticipated October 1st thru October 5th 2018. Hosting the workshop is considered an honor and privilege.  This will bring numerous K9 teams from not only Georgia but other surrounding states, and countries to receive certification.

The hosting agency is required to accept registration funds/and or donations as well as process payments for associated cost of the event. By creating a dedicated project account the department will be able to accept funds and process any required purchases.

FISCAL IMPACT:

The anticipated revenue is not to exceed $50,000.00. A dedicated project account will be established for this purpose.

RECOMMENDATION:
