PURPOSE:

Adopt a resolution expressing sympathy to the victims, asking gun retailers in DeKalb to voluntarily stop selling bump stocks and large magazines and asking the General Assembly and Congress to require background checks for all gun purchases.

NEED/IMPACT:

Since 1970 more Americans have died from gun violence (1.4 million) than in all the wars in American history (1.3 million).

FISCAL IMPACT:

None

RECOMMENDATION:

Recommended Action

Adopt the ordinance and authorize the chief executive officer to execute all necessary documents.
