PURPOSE:
Awarded by the BOC on May 17, 2016 for an amount not to exceed $1,456,025.00. On December 12, 2017, the BOC approved Change Order No. 1 for an amount not to exceed $344,975.00, revised the scope of work and added 162 performance days. This request consists of extending both the contract term through December 31, 2019 and the performance time by 365 days to allow the contractor sufficient time to complete the additional scope of work included in Change Order No. 1. The additional performance period is required to provide the contractor sufficient time to perform the original scope of work and the changes described in Change Order 1. Tank restoration with high performance coatings is dependent upon both favorable weather and shutting water off in the tank. Weather in winter 2018 prevented the completion of the remaining scope of work (two Wesley Chapel tanks) and the changes to the scope of Change Order 1 (Redan Concrete tank). Shutting off water in the tank during the summer months is problematic because water demand is higher during this time. Extending the time allows the contractor to account for both bad weather and taking the tanks out of service during the most feasible time of the year.
