PURPOSE:
To consider accepting and appropriating up to $191,000 for the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) into an existing capital project account (Award: 601831, Project 104436) for the right of way acquisition for the upgrade of 40 traffic signals in DeKalb County (PI# 0002669); and
To consider authorizing the Chief Executive Officer to execute all necessary documents for completion of the project. The City of Decatur has upgraded 4 of the 40 traffic signals, which leaves the 36 listed on the attached document.

NEED/IMPACT:
The upgrade of 40 traffic signals in DeKalb County (PI# 0002669) is a joint GDOT and DeKalb County project to modernize the traffic signal equipment and communications in central DeKalb County in and around the Cities of Avondale and Decatur. The Board of Commissioners has previously accepted up to $829,000.00 in GDOT right of way funding on July 12, 2016. This item accepts an additional $191,000.00 towards the right of way acquisition. These funds will be provided to DeKalb County on a reimbursable basis through the Georgia Department of Transportation.

FISCAL IMPACT:
This item allows the County to accept an additional $191,000.00 for a total of $1,020,000.00 of reimbursable right of way funds from the Georgia Department of Transportation. DeKalb County will be responsible for fully funding any costs above $1,020,000.00.
