PURPOSE:
To consider authorizing the payment of $13,979 to Norfolk Southern Railroad for engineering services related to the proposed railroad quiet zone; and
To consider accepting $13,979 from Blackhall Studios to go toward Norfolk Southern Railroad engineering services costs; and
To consider authorizing the Chief Executive Officer to execute documents necessary to complete the quiet zone.
NEED/IMPACT:
On May 8, 2018, the Board of Commissioners approved an agenda item authorizing the closure of Old Constitution Road to facilitate the establishment of a railroad quiet zone at Fayetteville Road, Constitution Road, and Henrico Road. Since then, Norfolk Southern Railroad has submitted a cost estimate for engineering services related to reviewing plans for the closure and other work needed to create the quiet zone. Although Blackhall Studios will cover the cost, Norfolk Southern will only accept payment from DeKalb County.
FISCAL IMPACT:
No cost to the county.

Recommended Action
To authorize the payment of $13,979 to Norfolk Southern Railroad for engineering services related to the proposed railroad quiet zone; and
