SUBJECT:  Request to accept grant funds from the Criminal Justice Coordinating Council for fiscal year 2019, effective July 1, 2018 through June 30, 2018, for the benefit of the Magistrate Court of DeKalb County’s Misdemeanor Mental Health Court in the sum of $40, 549 with a match of $4,505.

PURPOSE:

To accept grant funds in the sum of $40,549 awarded by the Criminal Justice Coordinating Council to the County for the benefit of the Magistrate Court of DeKalb County’s Misdemeanor Mental Health Court, which is the county’s adult misdemeanor mental health court.  The MMHC is fully certified by the State of Georgia through February 20, 2020.

 

NEED/IMPACT:

The grant funds will be used to defray costs associated with the Misdemeanor Mental Health Court’s operations, administration and treatment options for participants.

 

FISCAL IMPACT:

The Magistrate Court is required to provide a 10% match of funds granted.  The match in the amount of $4,505 will be requested from the DATE Fund in the county’s 2018-2019 budget.

 

RECOMMENDATION:

Recommended Action

To approve the resolution and authorize the chief executive officer to execute all necessary documents.  To accept grant funds from the Criminal Justice Coordinating Council for the benefit of the Magistrate Court of DeKalb County’s Misdemeanor Mental Health Court.
