PURPOSE:
The Recreation Parks and Cultural Affairs Department is requesting approval to renovate the 18 putting greens and practice putting green at Sugar Creek Golf and Tennis Facility located at 2706 Bouldercrest Road, Atlanta GA. The contract with Benson Construction Company is recommended for $254,050.20.
NEED/IMPACT:
Due to the aging and very thin coverage of the existing greens at Sugar Creek Golf Course, the sprigging will provide better playability and improve aesthetics which will encourage more participation by local residents. This improvement will attract more activity at the golf course by the surrounding community and make the course more competitive with similar courses in the area. This action coincides with the recommendation contained in the National Golf Foundation Report.
FISCAL IMPACT:
No impact to the 2018 operating budget. This item is funded by the Tourism Product Development of the Hotel/Motel Tax Fund allocated to Sugar Creek and approved by the BOC in September of 2017.

Recommended Action
Recommend that the Benson Construction Company, Inc contract for $254,050.20 be approved for sprigging at Sugar Creek Golf and Tennis Facility and authorize the Chief Executive Officer to execute all the necessary documents and contracts for the completion of the project.
