PURPOSE:
To consider authorizing the payment of up to $377,879.00 to Georgia Power for relocation of overhead power lines for the construction of improvements to Rockbridge Road from Allgood Road to Rowland Road and
To consider appropriating $75,575.80 of SPLOST funds from line item 1B - Federal and State Transportation Project Matching Funds to fund 20% of this payment; and
To consider authorizing the Chief Executive Officer to execute all necessary documents pertaining to this project.
NEED/IMPACT:
Georgia Power will need to relocate distribution and transmission lines in order for DeKalb County to construct improvements to Rockbridge Road. These improvements include construction of sidewalk, bike lanes, and a center turn lane from Allgood Road to Rowland Road. On July 12, 2016, the Board of Commissioners approved accepting $1,135,000 in funds from GDOT for this project including $416,000 for utility relocations. The GDOT funds will cover 80 percent of the cost of this payment. SPLOST funds are needed to cover the 20 percent match of $75,575.80.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The Utility Relocation Project will be funded as follows:
GDOT $302,303.20
SPLOST $75,575.80
Total $377,879.00
RECOMMENDATION:
Recommended Action
To authorize the payment of up to $377,879.00 to Georgia Power for relocation of overhead power lines for the construction of improvements to Rockbridge Road from Allgood Road to Rowland Road;
