PURPOSE:
To provide a four percent increase in compensation for all sworn personnel in the Police Department, Fire Department, Marshal’s Office, District Attorney (Investigators), Medical Examiner, State Court (Probation), Solicitor State Court (Investigators), Juvenile Court (Probation), and Sheriff (Deputies, Detention, Security Techs) and all Animal Services, DEMA, and E-911 employees effective October 20, 2018 and to amend the 2018 budget to increase appropriations for District Attorney - General Fund and Solicitor, State Court - General Fund. The increase for the remaining departments will be paid out of their current operating budgets.
NEED/IMPACT:
This agenda item increases the operating budgets for District Attorney - General Fund and State Court - General Fund to cover the costs of a 4% increase in compensation and associated benefits for all sworn personnel and decrease the reserves for each associated fund. All other departments receive a 4% increase, which will be funded through their current operating budget.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Increase appropriations for the following department by the indicated amounts below:
1. District Attorney - General Fund, $26,690
2. Solicitor, State Court - General Fund, $7,963
Increase revenue anticipations for the General Fund by $34,653.
