PURPOSE:

To consider the creation of three positions and related operating expenses in the Child Advocacy Center department to staff newly created Juvenile Court division; and

To authorize the Chief Executive Officer to execute any necessary documents.

 

NEED/IMPACT:

The Board of Commissioners, on February 27, 2018, approved the expansion of Juvenile Court with the creation of an additional Judge’s division.  The expansion necessitates appropriate staffing by the Child Advocacy Center department for the representation of children in abuse and neglect cases, beginning October 15, 2018.  The Child Advocacy Center will require an Attorney IV, and Attorney III and a Social Worker.  Child Advocacy Center personal services costs for the remainder of 2018 will be $45,284.32, with $9,761.48 in operating expenses.  The total increase required in the Child Advocacy Center’s 2018 Operating Budget is $55,045.80.
