PURPOSE:

•To consider approving the FY18 Artificial Intelligence Technology Applied Research and Development for Law Enforcement Applications grant, from the US Department of Justice, National Institute of Justice; and 
•To consider accepting $9,018.00 from the National Institute of Justice and appropriating that amount to the Grant Fund for spending in compliance with the grantor’s requirements; and
•To consider authorizing the Chief Executive Officer to execute the necessary.

 

NEED/IMPACT:

Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech) and the DeKalb County Police Department have partnered to enhance law enforcement’s ability to combat human trafficking.  Georgia Tech is the lead applicant of this project.  The purpose is to create new technology to assist law enforcement in tracking human trafficking victims (including children) and their captors.

Recommended Action
