PURPOSE:

To accept the terms of the Georgia Emergency Management Agency / Emergency Medical Technician Grant, and course agreement.  To fund Emergency Medical Response course for state fiscal year 2018.  The grand provides for reimbursement per student (no less than 12 and no more than 25 students) cost for books at a rate of $111.74 each, instructor payment of $1440.00, and miscellaneous equipment for each student (no less than 12 and no more than 25 students).

Value of equipment and anticipated reimbursement to the county will not exceed $10,000.00

DeKalb County has requested a variance of the terms so that the cost of the equipment could be recovered as instructor costs.  In lieu of providing jump bags the variance would allow $137.00 per student (a maximum of 25 students on the final roster) as well as providing the county up to 25 traffic safety vests valued at $14.50 each.

NEED/IMPACT:

To reduce the out of pocket expense to the County for up to 25 students attending EMT (Emergency Medical Technician) for the cost of books and to offset the expenses of the instructor.  Provide traffic safety vest for the Fire Academy to use for Recruits while conducting P.T. (physical training) and conditioning for high visibility and safety.

FISCAL IMPACT:

No cost to the county.
