PURPOSE:
To authorize payment to the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) in the amount not to exceed the following listed amount, for the water and sewer installation/adjustments associated with the following project; and to authorize the Chief Executive Officer to execute agreement that allow for the payments and to execute all necessary documents to complete this transaction:
? PI0013174 SR 12 Covington Hwy and Young Road & PI0013175 SR 12 Covington Hwy and Cove Lake Road total amount of $26,100.00
NEED/IMPACT:
The GDOT projects P.I. No. 0013174 to install turn lanes at the intersection of SR 12 at County Road 700/Young Road and P.I. No. 0013175 to perform an intersection improvement by upgrading the traffic signal at the intersection, adding a right turn bypass lane, and illuminating the intersection of SR 12 @ CR 5192/COVE LAKE ROAD/WELLBORN ROAD in DeKalb County, Georgia. The Department of Watershed Management has existing utilities within the construction limits that are in conflict with the proposed work or need to be replaced due to age. Therefore, the County entered into a Contact Item Agreement with GDOT to include water and sewer installations/adjustments for the SR 12 Covington Hwy Improvements project to prevent construction delays, minimized impact to adjacent property owners and the traveling public. The County must agree to pay the estimated cost of completing the work; the exact payment amount will be based on unit bid prices.
