PURPOSE:
• To consider accepting Grant in the Amount of $891,935 from the US Department of Labor- Employment Training to provide pre-apprenticeship Programs to the Youth of the Juvenile Court and the County.
To consider appropriating the amount of funds awarded to the grant fund.
NEED/IMPACT:
In January 2019, The US Department of Labor Employment and Training Administration awarded the Dekalb County Juvenile Court with $891,935 to fund the court’s new pre-apprenticeship program Initiative. Funds will be used to provide Training and Curriculum that aligns with the skill needs of employers in the economy of the state . Also, the program will provide meaningful opportunities to attain at least one industry- recognized credential and a partnership with one or more registered apprenticeship program that assists in placing individuals who complete the pre-apprenticeship program in a registered apprenticeship program.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The Grant award will provide additional funds to the Juvenile Court for program and services.
