PURPOSE:
To consider approval of the rental agreement between DeKalb County Government and the Boys and Girls Club of Metro Atlanta, Inc. for the use of portions of the Redan Recreation Center.
NEED/IMPACT:
The Department of Recreation Parks and Cultural Affairs is requesting approval of the rental agreement with the Boys and Girls Club of Metro Atlanta, Inc. to provide after-school, summer camp and other services at the Redan Recreation Center located at 1839 Phillips Road, Lithonia, Georgia 30058. The agreement term shall be January 01, 2019 thru December 31, 2019, with an automatic renewal on January 1of each year during the term for a total term of three years. The agreement calls for a fixed rental rate of $1.00 annually and the tenant shall also pay the County an Annual Project Payment of $20,000 per year to be set aside and used by the County to fund capital improvements, various events or other beneficial programming at the sole discretion of the County.
The Boys and Girls Club will operate a Weekday Afterschool Program between the hours of 2 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. at Redan Recreation Center when DeKalb County School System is in session and full days when the school system has school holidays and school breaks. The Boys and Girls Club will also offer a weekday Summer Camp from 7:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Drop off for Summer Program participants will begin at 7:00 am.
The Boys and Girls Club will have use of Redan Recreation Center’s multipurpose room, dance room, a portion of the reception desk, gymnasium, arts & crafts room, family waiting room, game room, and computer room while operating their programs. The weight room, upstairs classrooms and upstairs restrooms will be available to the public at all times the Premises are open.

To approve the resolution approving the rental agreement with the Boys and Girls Club of Metro Atlanta, Inc. and authorize the Chief Executive Officer to execute all necessary documents for implementation of the agreement.
