PURPOSE:
For Commissioners to consider accepting grant award in the amount of $50,000 from the Criminal Justice Coordinating Council (CJCC). The grant will support the salary and benefits of one (1) prosecuting attorney working within the Special Victims Unit of the Solicitor's Office. There is a required county match in the amount of $16,667 that will be drawn from the office cost center 63810 account 602031/104849. The grant period of performance if from January 1, 2019 through December 31, 2019.

To consider authorizing the CEO and or his designee to execute the grant agreement and all necessary post-award documents requiring signature from a signing official.

NEED/IMPACT:
VAWA is a formula grant passed down from the state to local county prosecution offices. The Solicitors Office has been awarded the Stop VAWA grant in the amount of $50,000 to support activities related to prosecuting crimes against women. The Office will match the grant in the pre-determined amount of $16,677. One full-time attorney salary along with benefits will be funded through this award.

FISCAL IMPACT:
This award will provide an additional $50,000 to the overall grants budget in the Solicitor's Office. This will assist in decreasing the county's costs for paying salaries.
