PURPOSE:
To present the Recreation Parks and Cultural Affairs Master Plan for Rainbow Park and request approval of the plan
NEED/IMPACT:
Rainbow Park is a 21-acre park located adjacent to Porter Sanford Performing Arts Center off Rainbow Drive in the southern portion of DeKalb County. The Performing Arts Center plays host to numerous events throughout the year and is near capacity in the programs it can offer. In an effort to increase the capacity of arts programs and cultural events at Rainbow Park, RPCA embarked on an effort to create an “Arts Complex” by establishing a venue for outdoor performances to accompany the existing indoor facilities at Porter Sanford. The master plan consists of a 1000 seat open air amphitheater, ticket and concession building, restrooms, entry plaza, VIP Pavilion, ADA and fire access, as well as informal gardens in the former Wonderland Garden space. The project will be phased in until completed and has an expected cost of $1,486,000 for phase I and an overall cost of $2.5 million.
FISCAL IMPACT:
No fiscal impact to 2019 budget.
RECOMMENDATION:
Recommended Action
To approve the RPCA master plan for Rainbow Park; and authorize the Chief Executive Officer to execute all the necessary documents for the completion of the project.......
