PURPOSE:
To present the Recreation Parks and Cultural Affairs Master Plan for Longdale Park and request approval of the plan.
NEED/IMPACT:
Longdale Park’s master plan was undertaken in 2016 by RPCA staff, the community, and the Friends of Longdale Park group in order to properly leverage and plan upgrades for recently allocated funding. The master plan consists of two phases. Phase I includes renovations to the existing facilities with current funds. Phase I of the master plan has been completed and includes upgrading site amenities, basketball court, pavilion, playground, landscaping and other general renovations. Phase II outlines the future plans for the park and includes a large shelter, nature trails, concrete trails, and fitness station. The cost of the project is estimated at $522,000.
FISCAL IMPACT:
No fiscal impact to 2019 budget.
RECOMMENDATION:
Recommended Action
To approve the RPCA master plan for Longdale Park; and authorize the Chief Executive Officer to execute all the necessary documents for the completion of the project.
