PURPOSE:
1. To consider approval of the transfer of FY 2019 Dislocated Worker WIOA grant funds in the amount of $403,000 to FY 19 Adult programs.
2. To consider authorizing authoring the Chief Executive Officer to execute the necessary documents.
NEED/IMPACT:
WorkSource DeKalb received an allocation of $1,382,043 of FY 2019 funds to provide Dislocated Worker services through Technical College System of Georgia. Based on our service goals for adult participants, it has been determined that we can provide a better level of service to constituents by transferring $403,000 in funds from the FY 19 Dislocated Worker Award to Adult programs.
The Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) provides funding for Adult and Dislocated Worker participants for employment and training activities. The transferred funds will be used to provide adult citizens of DeKalb County with job search assistance, labor market information, occupational trend information, resume preparation, and assistance in identifying employment opportunities available through both online and direct job sites. In addition, funding will be used to provide interest and aptitude assessments, and occupational skills training opportunities for WIOA eligible customers.
The transfer of FY19 Dislocated Worker funds to Adult funding will serve approximately 40 Adults in DeKalb County. The goals for the programs are to meet negotiated state level performance goals for Adults, Dislocated Workers, and Youth entered employment rates of 73% and WorkSource DeKalb is currently at 86.5%.
