NEED/IMPACT:

We received notice from Technical College System of Georgia, the Grant Administrator for Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act funding, of the availability of additional funds for PY 17 Youth programs. The Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) provides funding for Youth participants for employment and training activities. These funds will be used to provide DeKalb County youth citizens between the ages of 16 - 24 with job search assistance, labor market information, occupational trend information, resume preparation, and assistance with identifying employment opportunities available through both online and direct job sites. Additionally, funding will be used to provide interest and aptitude assessments and occupational skills training opportunities for WIOA eligible customers. No funds have been received or expended and no workforce activities are being conducted at this time for the above-mentioned grant award.

The PY19 funding will serve approximately 45 Youth in DeKalb County.  The goals for the programs are to meet negotiated state level performance goals for Adults, Dislocated Workers, and Youth entered employment rates of 70%.  WorkSource DeKalb performance is currently at 83%.

This action has been approved by the Worksource DeKalb Board (WSDB).
