PURPOSE:
To consider accepting and appropriating up to $140,000 from the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) into project 101503 for construction for the South River Trail Phase V project; and
To consider authorizing the Chief Executive Officer to execute all necessary documents for completion of the project.
NEED/IMPACT:
The South River Trail Phase V project will extend the South River Trail from its current end at Georgia State University - Perimeter College to Waldrop Road. The Atlanta Regional Commission has agreed to provide an additional $140,000 for construction to be provided to DeKalb County on a reimbursable basis through GDOT. On March 8, 2016, the Board of Commissioners approved accepting $980,000 in GDOT funds for construction and $440,000 in GDOT funds for right-of-way acquisition on this project. On October 14, 2008, the Board of Commissioners accepted $700,000 in GDOT Transportation Enhancement funds for the project.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The additional GDOT funds will reduce the overall SPLOST-funded local match for construction, which will be $2,065,998.
