PURPOSE:

On April 22, 2019 during the televising of a sewer line located on Winters Chapel Road near Doraville Georgia, a CCTV camera became stuck in a 10” sewer line. In order to remove the camera, an external point repair was required. As a result, and in efforts to prevent the manhole from overflowing, the County’s on-call contractor was notified to immediately mobilize and remove the camera as quickly as possible. This area was flooded, making it mandatory for various valves to be turned off in the area. During this process, a 6” valve broke and caused additional flooding. The on-call contractor was requested to perform valve repair services in this area to alleviate possible threat to health, welfare and safety to citizens. Additional work included removing truckloads of unsuitable soil, installing large rocks, contacting Georgia Power to stabilize a power pole, site restoration and maintaining emergency bypass pumping around the clock.
