PURPOSE:
To consider authorizing the acceptance of a donation of mural artwork at Mason Mill Park from the Outer Space Project and ABV Agency.
NEED/IMPACT:
Since they were built, the PATH trails and supporting walls at Mason Mill Park have been subject to graffiti, which is often crude and/or offensive. Recent studies demonstrate that murals painted in graffiti-prone areas decrease the occurrence of graffiti by 80%. The Outer Space Project and the ABV Agency have offered DeKalb County a donation of mural artwork valued at $11,210 for the Mason Mill Park walls.
FISCAL IMPACT:
No cost to the County. Donation of murals valued at $11,210
RECOMMENDATION:
Recommended Action
To approve the donation of mural artwork valued at $11,210 as offered by the Outer Space Project and the ABV Agency and authorize the chief executive officer to execute all necessary documents.
