PURPOSE:

DWM are requesting to additional funding to the GDOT M005811 agreement for resurfacing SR 12 Covington Hwy from SR 10 Mountain Dr to SR 124 Turner Hill Rd improvement that is associated with Watershed Management in the amount of $56,789.00. GDOT original quote submitted to DWM dated June 21, 2019 stated the DWM portion being $123,950.00 not including betterment however submitted a revised Contract Item Agreement dated November 5, 2019 in the amount of $180,739.00 for resurfacing SR 12 Covington Hwy from SR 10 Mountain Dr to SR 124 Turner Hill Rd improvement.

 

NEED/IMPACT:

The GDOT project M005811 resurface SR 12 Covington Hwy from SR 10 Mountain Dr to SR 124 Turner Hill Rd in DeKalb County, Georgia. The Department of Watershed Management has existing utilities within the construction limits that are in conflict with the proposed work or need to be replaced due to age. Therefore, the County entered into a Contract Item Agreement with GDOT to include water and sewer installations/adjustments for the SR 12 Covington Hwy project to prevent construction delays, minimized impact to adjacent property owners and the traveling public. The County has agreed to pay the cost of completing the work. This will ensure that there are adequate funds on this agreement to enable the contractor to continue working on our water and sewer installation/adjustments.

 

FISCAL IMPACT:

Schedule Delay - Resulting in delay claims

Change in scope (rework) - Impacts to budget due to possible design and field changes

To approve the resolution and authorize the chief executive officer to execute all necessary documents for Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) to perform resurfacing and water and sewer installation and adjustments associated with the following projects to complete these transactions.
