PURPOSE:

To authorize the reallocation of $7,000,000.00 of funds on deposit in account 1005003.803351.541403.01602109 (which funds were originally received from the sale of the Clark Harrison Building and subsequently reallocated to reimburse the County from the purchase of certain vehicles described in Agenda Item 2018-2865 adopted on December 4, 2018) to the renovation of Buildings #1 and 2 at 178 Sams Street.

NEED/IMPACT:

In December 2018, the proceeds (approximately $11,935,925.77) from the Clark Harrison Building sale were reallocated to reimburse the County for the purchase of certain vehicles and were restricted to a capital account for approved capital projects by the Board of Commissioners. This action reallocates $7,000,000.00 of the moneys in such capital account to the 178 Sams Street renovation (Building 1 and 2). The lease at 330 West Ponce de Leon Avenue ends December 2021; consequently several county departments must vacate the building. DFACS (Department of Family and Children Services) which was located at 178 Sams Street completely exited the building in March.

FISCAL IMPACT:

None.

RECOMMENDATION:

Recommended Action

Approve the reallocation of $7,000,000.00 of the funds in the restricted capital account (which funds were originally received from the sale of the Clark Harrison Building and subsequently reallocated to reimburse the County for the purchase of certain vehicles described in Agenda Item 2018-2865 adopted on December 4, 2018) to 178 Sams Street renovation (Building 1 and 2) for occupancy by several county departments. Building 1 is 71,160 square feet and Building 2 is 59,160 square feet. Authorize the Chief Executive Officer or his designee to execute any necessary documents.
