PURPOSE:

o                     To consider accepting a grant award in amount of $447,748 from the Criminal Justice Coordinating Council to continue providing intensive behavioral treatment and supervision services to youth offenders participating in CAP services. 
o
                     To consider authorizing the Chief Executive Officer and/or his designee to execute the Grant Agreement and all necessary documents  

 

NEED/IMPACT:

The Criminal Justice Coordinating Council awarded DeKalb County Juvenile Court funding for the continuation of intensive behavioral treatment services to youth participating in the Commitment Alternative Program (CAP). CAP serves at-risk youth offenders who are facing long-term commitment within the state’s criminal justice system.  The program provides essential, evidence-based treatment services that aim to restore youth back in the community while holding them accountable for their actions and providing evidence-based services that will have a lasting impact on their ability to be law abiding and productive members of our community. Services are provided to youth ages 14-17 years old who reside in DeKalb County.  Services include:

                     Intensive Supervision

                     Individual and Family Therapy

                     Education Advocacy

                     Mentoring

                     Pro-Social developmental activities

                     Cognitive Behavioral Therapy

The grant award will fund the employment of contracted staff and treatment providers, van and Marta transportation, supplies, and mentoring.  No match is required.

The grant period is July 1, 2020-June 30, 2021.  The amount to be received from the Criminal Justice Coordinating Council is $447,748.

 

FISCAL IMPACT:

The award will provide additional funding and resources to Juvenile Court’s overall grant budget.

To approve the resolution and authorize the chief executive officer to execute all necessary documents.
