PURPOSE:
To appoint Albert R. Sacks to the position of Senior Magistrate for the Magistrate Court of DeKalb County to complete the term ending on December 31, 2020, effective September 1, 2020.
NEED/IMPACT:
O.C.G.A. 15-10-220 (attached as Exhibit A) authorizes the Chief Magistrate Judge to appoint to the office of Senior Magistrate any retired Chief Magistrate or Magistrate who prior to retirement served at least eight (8) consecutive years as Chief Magistrate or Magistrate. Judge Sacks has served as a Magistrate Judge for 35 years. The following DeKalb County Magistrate identified in the attached Exhibit B is requesting the Board of Commissioners’ approval for the appointment of Albert R. Sacks as Senior Magistrate Judge.
